The Quadratic Regeneration - May 2024 Newsletter

Welcome to the Biome Newsletter, May edition - featuring updates from our Giftees & local ecosystem.

In last month’s newsletter, we highlighted Ma Earth’s quadratic funding round for regenerative land projects. Hosted on the blockchain platform Gitcoin, the fund included 23 regenerative land projects from all over the world.

The unique “quadratic” approach meant that supporters could donate as little as $5 USD from their Metamask wallet to a project, which was then matched by Biome Trust based on the total amount of contributors for that particular project.

In just under 2 weeks, 420 supporters donated over $20,000 to the round, plus - there was an anonymous gift of $40,000 which was distributed evenly across the 23 projects.

Combined with the $100K matching fund from Biome Trust, the total raised was over $160,000 for regenerative land projects - an average of $7,178.82 per organisation.

We are excited to have seen many local projects in our community involved in this round.

Stay tuned for updates, and please enjoy this monthly collection of updates from our local ecosystem.
