Weaving Ecosystems - December Newsletter

Kia Ora,

Welcome to the Biome Newsletter, December edition, featuring updates from our Giftees & local ecosystem.

Recently, we hosted the 2023 Biome Hui at Mangaroa Farms, featuring curious conversations and farm-to-table meals, connecting some of our local ecosystems, and deepening understandings of our collective mahi.

Inside the MF Tipi, (see above) we learned about the journey to legal personhood of Taranaki Maunga / Te Kāhui Tupua, listened to conservation conversations with DOC, and learned about the Hua Parakore Māori Organics verification.

We celebrated Predator-Free efforts, witnessed fruit trees being planted in schools, talked regenerative farming & festivals, gained insights into peaceful governance of the moon, and learned about how Web3 and blockchain technology is creating a new era for philanthropy.

Each day there were tours of the farm, trails and gardens - and our kitchen team in Te Wharekai kept the energy high with incredibly nourishing organic & locally sourced kai. Jams & fireside kōrero continued into the night.

Big thanks to the collective team who helped to weave all of the threads of event & community together. We look forward to deepening and continuing these relationships into the future.

Please enjoy this monthly digest.

Ngā mihi aroha

“We think we can engineer life, we can change the carefully organised DNA of a living organism, and there will be no wider impact. But this is a very dangerous illusion.”
